Immutable Prescriptions Held on the Blockchain

The project allows people to record and distribute digital property using iDIN technology. IDIN is an online authentication service which connects the blockchain enabling a person a way that is new to acquire drugs that are prescribed.

The offers those who suffer with chronic illnesses overviews and up-to-date electronic prescriptions of the medication. With expert help from the blockchain division of Deloitte, Prescrypt intends to set the users in charge of their drugs and information as opposed to sharing it with partiesmBit site Engelen details in his post:

“The underlying blockchain makes it possible for these consumers to decide for themselves which healthcare provider to share their information with and which supplier to send their prescription to. By placing the consumer in control of his information, instead of different parties, there’s always one set of data; a massive change when compared with the multitude of data sources that are frequently incomplete health care providers and consumers face today. This product brings information ownership back to the healthcare consumer and bitcoin casinos reviews 712×280.”

Healthcare-related blockchain implementations such as Prescrypt cover a wide assortment of consumer information. Researchers are using Gem, in addition to a few other digital ledgers with clinical trials as well.

Bitcoin.com recently reported on two clinicians John Holden, a General Practitioner, and Greg Irving of the University of Cambridge who devised a concept to make clinical trial documents immutable using the Bitcoin blockchain.

Engelen’s staff at REshape Center for Innovation is focusing on prescriptions at the moment, with this project a long way from completion. Engelen explains:

“PreScrypt is of course in no way a complete product. We have built this product in only a few days to demonstrate the ability of technology that was Blockchain; to show to everyone that it is technically feasible to use Blockchain for healthcare scenarios. In our view this use case is the first step towards a comprehensive digital health environment consisting of a wealth of applications that are far richer. Think of approaches to streamline the economic activities in health from user to insurer to supplier, Internet of Things applications that can communicate over the Blockchain, an entire PHR instead of one just focusing on drugs etc.. We envision that many providers can build their software each having the ability to securely communicate with each other and the healthcare consumer’s data, onto the infrastructure. We at REshape will continue to check into this amazing technology and you will be hearing more from us soon.”

Blockchain technology seems to be a match made in heaven. Considering the transgressions and manipulation in the medical industry, like the recently-uncovered fraud with the Theranos firm, projects like Lucien Engelen’s Prescrypt might be the most secure method of data collection.
